My journey into ministry has truly been a fun and enjoyable one. I grew up in a Christian home and became a Christian at the age of 5. I was involved in every sport you could think of all through grade school and the Lord blessed me with a scholarship to play college golf at the University of Florida and the University of Alabama. I naturally had aspirations to play on the PGA Tour, so after I graduated I turned pro and played mini tour golf for all of 2007. At the end of that year I started to feel as though the Lord was calling me elsewhere. As soon as I returned home after the season was finished my pastor, Dr. Larry Thompson, asked me to have breakfast with him. I agreed, and over breakfast he offered me the Singles Ministry Associate job at First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. After much prayer and consideration, I told him that I would commit for a year just to get my feet wet in ministry and to help out in the lack of a singles minister.
One year turned into two years and in the middle of my second year I began my schooling at Dallas Theological Seminary. I was feeling a definite call to full time vocational ministry. What really solidified this decision in my life, besides the fact that I have so much fun, are a few verses that the Lord showed me in 2 Corinthians 6. Verses 3 & 4 say, 'We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry. In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God.' As soon as I read these verses, I though to myself, that is me! This is how I try to live my life and how I desire to be an example to all those around me. I know that people are always watching me to see how I react in different situations and I love it, because every time I just point strait to the Lord.
I am excited to be attending Dallas Theological and know that it can help me reach my goals and prepare me for ministry with a solid base for studying the scriptures and teaching the word of God. I am excited to see where the Lord is going to take me on this journey.
I am so blessed to be able to have the opportunity to lead worship at Grand Prairie Bible Church and I receive so much joy through leading people into heartfelt worship. I still enjoy playing golf competitively and use the sport for opportunities for ministry every time I tee it up.
