Outreach
In July of 1971, there was a city-wide crusade in Grand Prairie that saw hundreds of people come to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Following this revival, a new ministry was established called CISTY or "Christians in Service to Youth". This ministry rented a meeting room and made it into a Christian coffeehouse called "The True Vine." For six nights a week, people came to The True Vine to praise God, share in fellowship and afternoon and evening Bible studies. In nine months, there were over 1,000 decisions of people from all ages coming to saving faith or recommitting their lives to Christ. Several founding members of GPBC came to faith through this ministry, which continued through 1972.

In late 1973 the staff of Pantego Bible Church in Arlington met with several men in Grand Prairie to discuss the planting of a Bible church in Grand Prairie. Craig Prather, a recent graduate of DTS at the time with a heart for church planting, was appointed to lead this effort. In January of 1974 Craig and his wife, Barbara, began a Bible study and within four months arrangements were made to rent the Grand Prairie YMCA for Sunday Evening meetings. After three Sunday nights, the decision was made to start meeting on Sunday mornings. The first service had 50 people in attendance and the church was originally called Believers Bible Church.

Believers Bible met at the YMCA until March of 1977.

On March 20, 1977 the construction of the present building was completed and dedicated to the Lord. The additional Education wing was completed in August of 1988.

To avoid confusion with Bible Believers Church in Dallas, the name of the church was changed to Grand Prairie Bible Church on September 25, 1983.

After Craig Prather left GPBC in 1974 to pursue language training in Mexico and eventually full-time mission work in Spain, Garry Hogan and John Wecks then served as co-pastors of the church from 1974-1978. Mr. Hogan accepted a pastorate in Arkansas in 1978 but Mr. Wecks continued to pastor Grand Prairie Bible until 1984 and then went on to serve Multnomah Biblical Seminary as their Vice-President and Academic Dean.

From 1985 to 1993, Michael Easley served as the Pastor of GPBC. Dr. Easley currently serves as the President of Moody Bible Institute.

Bill Eubanks has been the Senior Pastor since 1994.
